A small French colonial town in the middle of backwards Laos is Luang Prabang. The town is beautiful and the night market is extremely famous.
In the centre of the town is a mountain which supposedly was moved from Sri Lanka by a monkey king. On this mountain is Buddhas foot, although I couldn’t make it out.
Kung Si Waterfalls are very well known in Laos and for good reason. I’ve never seen water as blue as it was there and another perk is that on the way to the bears you get to walk through the Moon Bear conservation centre!
Moon Bears are hunted here for their bile, therefore now they have a movement to protect all of them. However, the number one attraction in Luang Prabang is elephant riding and visits to the drugged Tigers which are on opposite ends of the scale and seems very backwards.
Time to brave the sleeper bus to the border to do the Gibbon Experience!
