I have been told my many travellers that Dalat is one of their favourite places that they’ve visited and now I know why.
Set back into the countryside is the city of Dalat, surrounded by mountains and forests it feels like you’re in Tuscany rather than Vietnam. Our hostel is one of the most famous as you are treated like a family member. You are greeted with a hug and all dinners are huge and communal every evening making it the best place to be as a solo traveller because it gives you a great opportunity to make friends.
My first day here was the best. It actually was the best day since travelling! I signed up to canyoning and thankfully there was a big group of us, including friends I’d made in previous hostels and had arranged to meet again here in Dalat.
We got to abseil down cliff faces, one time into the “washing machine” that did leave you feeling like you were going to drown but still amazing! The fast flowing river and our life jackets allowed us to cruise down the “lazy river” which was hilarious but my two highlights were sliding down a waterfall and jumping 11 metres off a cliff face into a plunge pool – however, today I am in pain from jarring my back and a guy in my hostel who did the canyoning today did break his back…
The pictures really are hilarious and speak for themselves!
For my second day here, 7 of us hired a car to explore the surrounding area. We were first taken to a coffee shop that sold weasel poo coffee! It’s actually really nice and doesn’t taste like poo. The weasels supposedly can smell the best coffee beans and eat them, however their bodies can’t digest it so the keepers scoop the beans out off their poo and make coffee from it!
Our final destination was Elephant Waterfalls! They were so impressive and the weather here in Dalat is lovely!
Moving on tomorrow to my final destination for Vietnam! Can’t believe my time here is almost over but this country is unbelievable!
